However, in the past 10-15 years, sampling music from the 2000s and on via mp3's has become popular as well. Specifically, alternative music -- music genres that you would rarely expect to hear sampled for a Hip-Hop record but still refreshing.
From Drake's "Pound Cake" to Kendrick Lamar's "Money Trees", alternative/electronic sampling has created new textures for producers to introduce to the Hip-Hop and even R&B world.
