Brush Pack Vol. 1 by Tamuz is a focused sample library built around the sound and feel of real brush drums. While brushes are most often associated with jazz, this pack moves them into new territory, geared toward modern production across hip hop, soul, R&B, funk, and other genres.
Each sound was recorded using a vintage 1970s Japanese drum kit alongside a modern Ludwig kit, paired with a rotation of classic Slingerland, Ludwig, and Pearl snares. The cymbal lineup features 1950s Zildjian A hi-hats and rare vintage Italian hats, delivering a soft yet articulate top end. Every sound was tracked through a tape machine and vintage microphones, with playing kept intentionally quiet so the natural tone of the drums, mics, and preamps comes through clearly.
The outcome is a textured, intimate drum sound that sits differently than what you get from sticks. Less attack, more movement, more tone.
