This is not your usual royalty-free sample pack. Freestyle music has been a passion project of mine for years. I always loved freestyle/Miami bass music of the 80s and 90s. The movement of the bass lines, the drums, the vocals, the minor chords used. Emotional music. It served as a basis for everything from 90s to R&B to the late 90s boy band era, both of which were influenced by the freestyle sound. This is a collection of songs for use in the form of a sample pack.

Each composition was arranged by Matthew “MTK” Crabtree, a multi-platinum, multi-Grammy award nominees with a diverse history of producer collaborations, ranging from Timbaland, Eminem, Madlib, Ye, 808 Mafia, and Tay Keith.

I understand that most people who check for Crabtree Music Library are looking for either soul or bangers. While this pack is an entirely new genre for the library (and maybe sample packs in general), please trust I did not lose sight of why you all have supported me for almost ten(!) years. There are loops EVERYWHERE in this pack. Intros. Breakdowns. Hidden. It’s like an easter egg hunt. The rush of seeing a record with a questionable cover digging and it having the grimiest loop of all time. That is the energy I wanted for this one.

Each track predominantly features live instrumentation, vocals, and a LOT of saxophone. Popular music needs more sax. If freestyle music is not your jam, you can make bangers with the acapellas, like my guy CashMoney AP did! Each song is brimming with ideas for you to use.

I created this pack with my Juno 106, Roland D-50, Yamaha DX7, and with the help of my talented vocalist Silver (She’s great), and my saxophonist Fabian. Each piece moves with a clear sense of rhythm and story, which gives producers material that works well for dance influenced tracks or modern ideas. If you want to stand out when you send that next batch of beats, this is the pack to get.
